How to Make a Quran Post

Five steps from a verse number to a finished Islamic post.

1
Pick the Surah and the verse All one hundred and fourteen Surahs are in the first list, and the verse list fills itself in with exactly as many verses as that Surah has. The Quran post is drawn the moment you choose, so there is no button to press and nothing to wait for.
2
Choose the Urdu and English translation Thirty six translations come with every verse. Pick one Urdu and one English, decide which sits on top, or switch either off when you want the Arabic on its own.
3
Choose the size and the background Instagram post or story, WhatsApp status, Facebook, YouTube thumbnail, A4 print, or any size you type. Behind the words put a colour, a gradient, one of the ready made Islamic backgrounds, or your own photo, which you crop to the shape of the post as you add it.
4
Make it yours Load your own Arabic, Urdu or English font, choose one of fifty ornaments for the reference line, and give each line its own colour, opacity, outline and shadow. Drag any line up or down on the post to place it exactly where you want it.
5
Download the post PNG keeps a transparent background, which is what you want when the verse is going into a design of your own. JPG is smaller for a finished post. Save at 1x, 2x or 3x, and your whole setup is still here the next time you open the page.

About the Quranic Image Post Maker

This Islamic post maker turns a verse of the Quran into a picture you can share. You choose the Surah and the verse; it brings back the Arabic with its marks, an Urdu translation and an English translation, and lays all three out at whatever size you need, with the reference at the top and a line of your own at the bottom. It is free, it needs no account, and it runs in the browser you already have open.

The reason it is drawn on a canvas rather than built out of HTML is the text itself. Arabic runs right to left and its letters join to each other; Urdu nastaliq leans across the line and drops below it; the pause marks of the Quran sit above the line. A browser canvas handles all of that correctly, and it lets each block be measured by the actual ink of the letters rather than by the invisible box the font reports, which is what stops the marks above one line from crashing into the line above it.

Fitting is the other half of the work. A short verse looks right at the sizes you set, but a long one will not fit at any sensible size. Rather than cutting it off, squeezing it into a narrow column, or letting it spill over the edge, every block is reduced together in the same proportion until the whole thing sits inside the post with a clear margin. The sizes it settled on are shown to you, because seeing 25 instead of 55 explains the result far better than silently making the text smaller. A short verse can be sent the other way just as easily, growing until it fills the post.

Everything after that is yours to set. Any of the usual social sizes or one you type in; a colour, a gradient, one of the ready made backgrounds or your own photograph, cropped to the post as you add it; your own font files for Arabic, Urdu and English; a separate colour, opacity, outline and shadow for every line; sixty ornaments for the reference and the footer; and each line dragged into the exact place you want it. The verse arrives from a server, but the picture is made entirely in your browser, so nothing you add is uploaded and nothing is stored anywhere but on your own device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the post maker.

Choose the Surah and the verse, pick the size you need, and the post is drawn for you with the Arabic, an Urdu translation and an English translation already spaced out. Then change the background, the fonts and the colours until it looks the way you want, and download it as a PNG or a JPG. There is no sign up and no limit on how many you make.

From theQuranic.com, which holds the Arabic with its full marks together with thirty six Urdu and English translations. This page asks for one verse at a time and sends nothing back. Your background picture, your font files and the finished post never leave your device.

Yes. Drop a picture in and a window opens where you crop it to the exact shape of the post, so the part you care about is the part that stays. After that you can move it, zoom it, turn it, flip it and darken it, or drag it into place on the post itself. There are also more than a hundred Islamic backgrounds on the page to choose from.

Yes, load a TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2 file for any of the three scripts. It is read inside your browser, never uploaded, and it is still in use the next time you open the tool. One thing to check: an Arabic font without the vowel marks will simply not draw them, so use a font meant for Quranic text.

Yes. The Arabic, the Urdu, the English, the reference line and the footer each have their own colour, opacity, outline and shadow, so you can put the verse in white and the translation in gold without touching anything else. One button copies the colour you are on to every other line when you want them all the same.

Drag it. Press on any line of the post and move it up, down or across with the mouse or a finger, and it stays where you leave it. The same can be done with sliders if you want an exact number, and dragging away from the words moves the background picture instead.

Because it would not fit at the sizes you chose. Instead of cutting the verse off or letting a line run past the edge, every part is reduced together in the same proportion until the whole thing sits inside the post. The sizes actually used are shown under the preview. A short verse can go the other way: turn on Fill the canvas and everything grows together until the post is full.

Set the background to None and save as PNG. The text comes out on its own with nothing behind it, which is what you want when the verse is going into a design somewhere else. Saving that as JPG would turn the transparent part white, so the format matters here.

No. The line at the bottom is yours to change to your own name or website, or to switch off entirely. Nothing else is added to the image, there is no account, and there is no daily limit.

Yes. The size, the colours, the ornaments, the picture you uploaded and the fonts you loaded are all kept in this browser, so the post comes back exactly as you left it. It is kept on your device only, and the Settings tab has buttons to forget your fonts or clear everything.

Because the Arabic is drawn with a proper Quranic font rather than whatever your device falls back to. That is the whole reason the post is drawn on a canvas instead of being made from HTML: the joining of the letters and the slant of Urdu nastaliq come out right.
